Performing world premier of Storied Generations, 2/11/23, Noe Valley Ministry, San Francisco Civic Orchestra Chamber Music Serires

Kadie Kelly describes Storied Generations as an ancestral healing. In it female voices are invited to explore, meander, and merge to the backdrop of a temporary violent, patriarchal system. Her intent is to acknowledge and celebrate her ability to experience and express things during her life that those who went before her never could. She invites listeners to meditate on their own family stories and to imagine this small rippling of consciousness growing out with the potential to transform into something larger-for generations going forward and backwards through time.

The Kadie Kelly Quintet came together in September 2022. Susanne Rublein and Kadie Kelly first met and performed original work together in 2017. Kadie met Kelsey Seymour and Sadie Hewitt through the Women’s Community Orchestra and Nimah Rowden came to the group through a mutual friend.

Kadie Kelly, pianist/composer/multi-media artist/writer. Kelsey Seymour, flute, is a data scientist at a VR startup. Sadie Hewitt, flute, is a 5th grade dual language educator in Oakland. Susanne Rublein, flute, plays in three orchestras, and works in Pixar’s system’s department. She is a nationally ranked competitive swimmer and mom to an 8 year old boy. Nimah Rowden, percussion, is a music industry studies student and music educator.

After a year of sporadic rehearsals due to COVID the group learned of the San Francisco Chamber Series opportunity and applied and got invited to perform.
